Psychoeducational Testing:

Psychoeducational testing provides critical information regarding a student’s learning style, including cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and is critical in identifying root causes of academic underperformance. Psychoeducational testing is required to identify the presence of a Learning Disability (LD), and/or giftedness. Determining students’ preferred learning styles, cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and educational accommodation needs can make a great impact on students’ academic self-concept and ultimate success. We communicate evaluation results in an age-appropriate fashion with children and families, and provide consultation and evaluation follow-up as needed. Psychoeducational testing may be indicated to clarify issues relating to:

  • AD/HD
  • Reading Comprehension and Fluency
  • Math Calculation Skills
  • Test-Taking Challenges
  • Organizational and Study Skills
  • Academic/Cognitive Impacts of Medical Conditions
  • Intellectual or Learning Disability
  • Giftedness

Neuropsychological Assessment:

Neuropsychological evaluations are conducted to identify the presence and nature of cognitive and neurobehavioral symptoms associated with developmental, neurological or psychiatric conditions. Typically, the goal of a neuropsychological assessment is to objectively measure and describe functioning in specific cognitive domains including memory, attention, executive functioning, language, and visuoperceptual skills. Additionally, aspects of social, emotional and personality functioning are evaluated with objective measures and via clinical interviewing. The neuropsychological test data are considered along with the individuals’ symptom complaints, and interpreted in light of known research in the area. Evaluation reports identify a diagnosis, describe areas of deficits, and facilitate treatment planning via individually tailored treatment recommendations. The benefits of neuropsychological testing and feedback applied appropriately are significant, and can positively impact medical outcomes, daily functioning and quality of life. Neuropsychological testing may be indicated to clarify:

  • Cognitive symptoms associated with neurological conditions
  • Pre-surgical or post-surgical functioning
  • Problems with attention/concentration or memory of unclear origin
  • AD/HD
  • TBI or Concussion-Related Symptoms
  • Memory Decline
  • Occupational or Academic Performance Problems
